The drought of 2006 continues into September entering its 7th month. As of the end of the month,
the US Drought Monitor analazed the drought to remain to D0 or Abnormally dry as it has been
for the entire month. The rainfall was -3.48" below normal for the month but has increased
to -8.44" for the year. The avg temp was slightly below normal but overall it was a dry
and warm month with occasional cold front passages. The majority of the fronts stalled N of
the area providing very little rainfall. The one major fropa at the end of the month
produced a pre-frontal squall line that gusted up to 27 mph when it passed and provided 1.25"
of rain, the most of the month.
