June was +0.5º above normal for the avg. temp and -1.32" deficit for the monthly rainfall
and +2.63" surplus for the yearly rainfall. Cold frontal passage occurred on 16th and 18th
and produced a significant rainfall total of 1.96" (90% of monthly rainfall). Dry frontal passage
occurred on the 5th and 12th. The other 2 rain days occurred on the 23rd-24th as a backdoor cold
front approached the area and then retreated back N to the Carolinas. 87% of the month was very
dry and dominated by high pressure surface and aloft as the dry season started late this year and
saw drought conditions begin to develop.
The US Drought Monitor started out Nil for the 7th and 14th but became D0 - Abnormally Dry
for SW Baker County on the 21st and 27th and Nil elsewhere for the remainder of the month.
The long term drought indicator from the CPC analyzed NE Florida as D0 - Abnormally Dry until
from the 4th til the 18th. By the 25th, it worsened to D1 - Moderate Drought through the end
of the month (31st).
The highest temp. occurred on the 31st @ 94.5°F. The lowest temp was 46.7°F on the 13th
